Jakarta – Presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, visited the Office of the Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) at Graha Oikoumene, Jakarta, on Friday, January 19, 2024. At the event attended by former Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Maruarar Sirait, Prabowo delivered a Christmas and New Year message and introduced a book of vision, missions, and programs offered together with vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
In a dialogue with the PGI officials, Prabowo expressed his joy to be present in the Christmas and New Year atmosphere.
“Hopefully this year will bring goodness to all of us,” said Prabowo.
He also stated that he is not a new person in the PGI community, having exchanged views with the previous PGI leadership.
Maruarar Sirait emphasized that PGI is a place for him to process, and he invited PGI officials to discuss with Prabowo and provide constructive advice and criticism.
“Mr. Prabowo is very open to listening to input, advice, and even constructive criticism for the good of the nation and the state,” said Maruarar.
At the event, Prabowo distributed vision-mission books to the attending PGI officials.
“I also brought the book. Maybe it has been distributed? Perhaps it can be distributed while I speak,” he said.
Responding to the complaints and suggestions submitted by the PGI officials, Prabowo assured that the input would be further discussed.
“I will soon meet with the Governor of DKI to discuss this. The education issue also raised earlier was good,” said Prabowo, responding to the requests and hopes of the dialogue participants.
In addition to Maruarar, Prabowo was accompanied by the Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Grace Natalie. PSI is one of the political parties affiliated with the Maju Indonesia Coalition to support Prabowo-Gibran. In the 2024 General Elections, Prabowo-Gibran will compete with two other pairs of candidates, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.
The campaign period will run until February 10, 2024, while voting will be held simultaneously on February 14, 2024, after the quiet period on February 11-13, 2024.
In his response, Prabowo Subianto said, “Your requests make sense, I will soon meet with the Governor of DKI to discuss this. The education issue raised earlier was good. I think I am not a new person in the PGI community.”
